The Norwegian Dream

Hey guys! Today I have some thoughts about Norway to share with you, about The Norwegian Dream.

What Norwegians think:

I think that people
in Norway “Wants to be like neighbor”. Most people do not want to get rich but
the just want to be normal. They want a normal sized house, a nice car that is
not too expensive or to cheap and to have a cottage in some nice place mountain
with nice ski slopes and great hiking possibilities. I think that another part
of the Norwegian dream is that the government will “fix our problems”. We have
a good and organized welfare system that pick you up if you fall. The welfare
system pays your hospital bills, send you to a shrink if you have psychological
problems, it keeps you of the streets if you lose your job or get sick and ties
to get you a new job that fits you. Aswell as the high taxes tries to keep “the
rich” form getting too rich. In a way,
the whole society tries to move towards having a big middleclass.

: What the immigrants think

We Norwegians may not think as much about it, but if you
ask the immigrants they would probably answer that they came to Norway because
of the democracy, the economy and the welfare. We have many immigrants in Norway
that was granted political asylum because of things that may have happened back
in their homelands. We think that these people came to Norway for our basic
values and rights.

The highest priority for the Norwegian people is the
democracy, and the right to vote and help to decide. The other things that we
and the immigrants, think that is very important is how we treat new people and
their rights to get all the good things as the other in Norway already have. Here
in Norway, our highest priority is that everybody is worth just as much as

everybody else.

The American Dream today

Hey! Today I have something to say about the American Dream.

Many years ago the American dream ment to travel to America to get a new and better life. And to get a great job and get rich. today it's another definition of the American dream. Many people says that they have given up on the american dream, because of the the economic situation in America. When The New York Times interviewed people in New York they answered that their definition of the American Dream was to get a good job. A woman said that her American dream was to get a good and happy family.
The definition of The American Dream has changed a bit, because off the hard times in America. The American Dream is now more about non materialistic things as values and freedom, no rasism and equal rights for the people. For others it stays the same (to get a good job. Travel to America to achieve what you want and get a good and healthy family). for the youth in America, The American dream is to get a good education and a good job to finance themselves. Hard times changes the American dream.

An amazing roadtrip in UK!

Hello everyone! Today I have to tell you about our amazing road trip in the UK! :)

On this road trip Sverre, Per and I drove a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro ss ZL1 with a turbo charged 580hp engine. In my opinion the car is fantastic. It does 0-60 in only 3,9 seconds. The interior is also very nice and the comfort is astonishing.

Here is a picture of the car.

Day 1:
We left Cardiff as soon as we rented the car. Then we drove our nice Camaro to LANG. LANG is a restaurant in The Shard, a viewing building in London.

The three of us had a nice meal. The Shard is so high and had absolutely stunning view, so we enjoyed our meal looking at beautiful London. After this meal, we went to Oxford to look at the nice streets, and we ate some Belgian waffles for dessert. Then we had to go to an intense football match! Arsenal - Real Madrid! The match was played at Emirates a BEAUTIFUL stadium.

The game ended 3-3. One of the most intense matches I have ever seen. After the match, we went to a pub. After the match, we went to drink a few beers! The bar The Hoop and Grapes was our place to visit. It was very fun to be at this bar and we had a good time there, very fun! After this, we went back to the hotel for a small drink.

This was a long day with a lot of action, so we went to bed before a new exciting day. Corinthia Hotel London, was the hotel we slept in.

Day 2
At 08 o clock we left London. Nottingham was the next stop, and the plan was to stay there for some hours and then go to Liverpool where we would stay for two days. After approximately three and a half hours on the road we arrived in Nottingham. Nottingham is in the middle of England and not a too great of a detour. On the way out of London the traffic was heavy and there was a terrible queue. Sverre realized that it was not really a smart move to book a hotel in the middle of a city with over eight million inhabitants who drive on the left side of the road. We were close to many accidents on our way, but fortunately Per managed to get us out of the city alive.
The highway to Nottingham was the road we chose, with only some small stops to fill fuel and eating once in a café by the road. The food was terrible. The sandwiches with ham, cheese and some kind of very bad tasting omelette was not good at all. When we finally arrived in Nottingham, Sverre and I went to the Robin Hood museum. I am a very big Robin Hood fan, so I loved the museum very much. Sverre and I ended up spending so much time in the museum that we had to use much less time in the rest of Nottingham and go straight to Liverpool.
We arrived in Liverpool right before midnight and checked in to the hotel. The time on the road had been very exhausting so Per and I went to bed, but Sverre stayed up to watch a movie. After the long ride Sverre convinced us, that is was the best if we could get something to eat. Per fell asleep just before we left so I had to wake him up, but he refused to get out of the bed. I went with Vegard down to a kebab restaurant some blocks away. And bought  big kebab.

John Lennons house.

The route for this day.

Day 3
Our alarm clock rang, around eleven so we missed the breakfast with. We were looking forward to the football match that would be played, later that night. Per and I ate in café and watched the local life, while Sverre went to Mc Donald’s and ate some cheeseburgers. The streets were mostly empty but that was probably because it was in the middle of the week. After the meal the plan was to visit John Lennon’s home. It was cool to look at the place he grew up. The place crawled with tourists. This was a great experience.
The match began at half past eight. One hour before the match started, we arrived at the stadium, and we had booked premium tickets. The view from our seats was amazing. The match was Liverpool versus Barcelona. In the end, the score was 3-1 to Liverpool. When the match ended, Sverre thought that it was a good idea to walk back to the hotel because we had a long trip ahead of us the next day.

Day 4:
After 5 hours and 335 km on the road. We finally arrived to our final destination, Edinburgh, Scotland. Edinburgh was a hectic city with much traffic and noise. After some hours driving around the city in our yellow Camaro we found our hotel, I chose Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian to be the best hotel in the city and this was the place, we would stay for the night. When I had parked our car, I walked to the hotel reception to check in. Sverre, Per and I had paid 4500 Norwegian kroners each to get the best and biggest room. We were going to sleep as kings the last night of our trip.
After the three of us had checked in, we went out to eat a burger on Mc Donald’s. The plan for this day was that we should go and play some “bubble soccer”, this is a game of football, with a giant ball around your body, and you can bump as hard as you want into others without causing any damage on the other players. Sverre scored five goals in the match. Per and I played football for 3 hours. Sverre gave up after one; he walked to the car and took a nap.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, this is a Military musical spectacular filled with talented performers, pipes, drums, and visual lights and fireworks. This was the last thing we had planned to do this road trip. The location is magnificent; the weather was fine & warm. In addition, the artists & bands were extremely entertaining! After this amazing experience, I decided that it was best to go back to our hotel in our fantastic car.  Per got to drive back to the hotel this evening a decision he liked very much.  to get some sleep before our flight home the next morning.
This was an amazing show.
The Royal Military Tattoo

The route from Liverpool to Edinburgh.
Day 5:
This was our last day in UK, our flight were supposed to leave Edinburgh at 13.00. We had a lot to do before we went to the airport. The three of us ate a fantastic breakfast at our hotel; it contained a lot of bacon, eggs and sausages. After the breakfast our slave carried the luggage to our yellow Camaro, before we drove to the place we had to give the car back to the rent company. We found Avis after a while and delivered the car. At 11.00 we took a taxi to the airport. After an hour of waiting, we finally boarded the plane. This was the end of the trip. It has been a lot of fun and we recommend everyone to do it.

This is our route for the road trip. It took a lot of time driving but it was fun and with good friends it was a very nice vacation.

A little quote to all of my fantastic readers.

Today we had to choose a quote we liked.
I choose: Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.
-Oscar Wilde.

I think it was a very good quote that says very much. I liked the meaning, and i agree that it is nothing that annoy your enemies more than forgive them. I like small and meaningful quotes and think it is nice remind yourself  some quotes when you do not know what to do. The best way to face angry people and people who is trying to get you angry is to give them a big smile. If you face bad mood with mood, the good alway wins.

A letter from the middle east.

Dear Nazneen
I´m sorry for not writing you earlier, but things have been a little hectic lately, as you probably understand, and the opportunity had yet to arise until this evening. Malek and I had a few difficulties at first, getting out of the village unnoticed proved somewhat more difficult than we first had imagined, and staying on the road without attracting unwanted attention from bandits and such. We have tried travelling mostly by night.
These three last weeks have been very challenging, And very scary. The Americans are bombing so much and the IS are responding with heavy grenade showers. We have seen so much cruelty on the roads to the border! We have seen women, children and men getting slaughtered, burned and tortured. But we have still managed to run away from everyone and everything that have chased us.
Last week I woke up in the middle of the night, a bomb went off next to our hotel, the lights went off and people screamed so loud outside, many wanted help, other screamed because someone had died. Seconds later another bomb went off, this time the grenade hit a car, the house next to the hotel collapsed, and fell into a pile of gravel. Malek told me that we had to go.
After that night in Kobani, we decided to run as fast as we could, together with 50000 others to the Turkish border. When we arrived at the border we were met of soldiers, tanks and other military vehicles, they told us that they was ready to face the IS if they started to march against Kobani, but they never did. The Turkish government decided to let us into Turkey. Now I’m safe and I miss you really much. When you read this letter, I’m probably on my way to London.

Events that shaped the English Language.

      HeY!
Here are some events that shaped the English language to how it is today.

      The Celts :
The Celts arrived around 700 years BC. They travelled all the way from present-day France. The Celts established trading centers, which would later become important cities. Yet apart from some place names, there are few Celtic words in today's English.

The Celts were either assimilated or forced westwards, into what are today Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Their descendants still speak Celtic languages: Welsh, Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic.

      The Anglo Saxons:
        • Invaded 450 years AD.
        • The Angles, Saxons and Jutes.
        • Spoke Germanic dialects.
        • Settled down, gave the land a name "Engla Land".
        • Gave the language a name, "Englisc".
      1066 and after:
        • 1066 - William the conqueror, defeated Harold Godwinson at the battle of Hastings.
        • Big changes in the English language.
        • The inflictional system of old English broke down and middle english became quite similar to the Englsih we see today.
        • Got more words from Latin and French.
        • Got 10.000+ words from the French, ruling and elite class.
        • English is rich in synonyms, and this due to the "Marriage", of English and French, this is a consequence of the invasion in 1066.
      Scandinavian Settlement:
        • The Norse started to come in the middle of the 9th century.
        • Settled down, mainly in the Northern and Southern areas in England.
        • In the 11th century, England had a Danish King.
        • Norse had a great influence on English. Basic words such as take and they are borrowed from Norse.
        • Many words are hybrids; because Old English and Norse are both Germanic languages and they are quite similar.
        • The influence of Norse is not seen in written English until after the Norman Conquest.
      Standardization:
        • Late medieval and early modern periods.
        • London standard (dialect) became dominant, particularly in printed scripts.
        • London standard = Prestige.
        • London English was associated with knowledge.
        • 16th century spelling became standardized.
      Colonization and Globalization:
        • Through colonization and exploration, the English language spread across the world.
        • Became a language of administration and diplomacy on every continent.
        • English is a world language.
        • English has become the lingua franca of the world.

Notice that this is just notes ;)

English - A world wide language!

Hello to all my fantastic readers!

English is a global language. In this blog update you can learn something about, how the English language was made through time.

English have been made through hundred of years, many wars have given the language many new words.
Over 350 different words have been stolen from other languages, so English could use them as their own.
English is used as a common language on the internet and in busness.
The normans gave the english language many new words, they helped the language to evolve and expand.
Vikings also gave a lot of words to the english language, when they  sailed down the coast of england to steal and kill.

A little walk

Good Day Everyone!

Today we went for a walk. Our task was to describe our enviroment. When we walked slowly down the very wide road we saw, heard and smelled different things. The wind blew high up in the trees, and the leaves were shaking. It smelled of rain and new grown forrest. A little down the road we saw the building and construction workers, and some teachers. We also saw some cars, a sportsarena and a excavator. We found a gravelroad. When we walk down this road inside the forrest we found a little hutt. It was a very nice hutt with a pool and other luxurious things inside of it. After this expedition we walked back to our nice teacher inside the classroom.

When you teach your son, you teach your son's son

Hello!

The quote you can see in the title is what i am going to write about today. I think the meaning of it is that, what you teach youre child is your son going to tell his/her kids. Youre child often uses their parents as a rolemodel. So if their rolemodel tells them one thing or what to do or how to behave they are most likely going to tell their kids. This is very important, because it is not very good if the parents learn their children do behave bad. Then the child often learn their children to behave bad also!
It is very important to think before you act in front of your children.

School Trip

Hello!

It has been a while since I updated my blog now! The reason is that me and my amazing class have been on a school trip. That lasted for 4 days. It has been 4 days full of fun.

Tuesday:
We drove from high school 08.30, we drove for 3 hours before we stopped in the great city of Lillehammer. In Lillehammer we ate on Mc Donalds and buyed food for dinner and breakfast the next day. When we had done all of this, we went back into the buss and started driving towards "Hell". "Hell" is a place in Norway where you can find some big potholes. Potholes is big holes that the water have made through decades. Hell was our last stop before we stopped the place we were going to sleep that night. We made some dinner and went to sleep in our tents after we had been chased by some big bulls.

Wednesday:
We woke up in our tents at 07.00 this morning, because we were going to raft this morning. 09.00 we had to meet our rafting guide, we got a russian guide, he was absolutely crazy. After a brief training session we started rafting down the Sjoa river. We fell in the river many times and the water was so cold that we lost our fingers. The rafting was so much fun and scary at the same time! After the rafting we headed back to the camp and packed our bags, and took down our tents, before we went to the bus. Next stop was Lom and the Norwegian mountain museum. We had a tour in the museum and watched a film about the "Under the ice" exhibition. When we had watched the whole thing, we went back into the buss and started driving towards a glacier. The last stop of the day was on top of a mountain near Juvasshytta. We met a guide that took us into a glacier and showed us the art inside and the ice that was supposed to be 6000 years old. After this amazing experience. We headed to the plaze we should camp for the next two days. "Bøverdalen Vandrerhjem".
Inside the glacier.
Outside the glacier.

Thursday:
The weather was absolutely stunning this morning when we woke up. The first thing we did was eating som breakfast inside Bøverdalen Vandrehjem  before we packed our bags with some food and something to drink, before we went to the bus that drove us to Juvasshytta. When we arrived aat Juvasshytta a guide welcomed us, and we got a brief lesson on how to walk on the mountain "Galdhøpiggen". Galdhøpiggen is the highest mountain in the Northern-Europe and Norway. We started walking, and its was a lot of stone and gravel and such things on that path we walked. After 3,5 hours we were finally at the top. The weather was so good that we saw half of Norway from the mountain that is 2469 metres high. On the top a can of Cola costs 40 kr?! When we walked back down i fell and broke my wrist, it hurted so much, but i survived (luckily). When we got back down the bus drove us to our camp again. We ate dinner, and got to sleep again.
On our way to the top.
We finally reached the top in the absolut stunning weather we could see many other mountains in the horizon.

Friday:
This morning we washed our hutts. When everybody were done we walked into the bus and started driving the long way home. After 9 hours on the road we were finally home again. The only negative thing was that i had been very sick during this amazing trip.

Leave a comment if you liked the update.

Three songs and the meaning of them.

Hello!

Today I had to write about som songs. These are three songs that very many people know. Two of the songs, "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "No Man is an Island" symbolizes that every person is equal and that every person that need help should get help from others. It also says that everybody should support each other through rough timesbsuch as natural disasters and diseases.

The third song "I am a Rock" says the opposite of the other two songs. The person in I am a Rock means that it is better to stand alone, because frienship hurts. The person doesn't care about love, just his books. The person also means that if he stays alone he can't be hurt.

You'll Never Walk Alone became Liverpool's song after The Hillsborough disaster in 1989. Six minutes into the FA Cup final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, the match was called off because is was problems in the stands, 96 Liverpool supporters died that day crushed against a barrier. The lyrics in this song is supposed to symbolized that all the Liverpool stood together after the disaster in 1989.
